Help!
I know I remember someone talking about the Tristan and Isolde quilt at the
V&A, and perhaps some new research that is being done? I couldn't find
anything in the archives.
A detailed look at the quilt, and its partner at the Bargello in Florence, is
in the newest volume of Medieval Clothing and Textiles, just released:
"One Quilt or Two? A Reassessment of the Guicciardini Quilts," by Sarah
Randles. Medieval Clothing and Textiles, vol. 5 (2009), pp. 93-128.
The author offers new evidence that the two quilts were originally part of a
single, larger piece, and proposes a reconstruction of the original quilt
based on the physical as well as iconographical clues in the extant pieces.
The article also includes plenty of technical detail on the quilts themselves.
There are several other articles in the volume that might be of particular
interest to h-costume members. Full contents are here:

If you're interested in the whole volume, you can order through Boydell at the
above link, or at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, or other outlets. It's worth
price-shopping, as the online prices tend to vary a lot.
People going to the Medieval Congress at Kalamazoo next month can buy at a
conference discount; if you know someone going, you can ask them to pick up a
discount order form for you.
