At the 1999 North American SF convention in LA, the guest of honor was Harlan Ellison. Included in the membership packet was a mousepad with a changeable image of "I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream". Someone created a costume on the spot out of the mousepads (several) and entered it in the Masquerade. It did win an award. Harlan really liked it, also.

At UGA one year, we received a box of art supplies. The packing material was sheets of Bush's Baked Beans, uncut label sheets. One student got an idea.. to use them for a costume/garment we had to make. She cut one large sheet into an apron, a chef hat, oven mitt and placemats from others. It was a really cute getup. She covered them with clear plastic like for table cloths and stitched the edges. The apron and hat were usable but the mitt wasn't for hot stuff. The teacher kept the set.
