Brushing and a good vacuum. Brushing will help with the stuff that is stuck on, while the vacuum gets the loose stuff off very quickly.
I've got to do the same before the next event. I also plan to undo the whole skirt from the bodice, and soak it in Eucalan to really get the dirts out (a no rinse product for wool, btw). I do this once a year when I am ready to store the dress, as it gets out the hidden dirts, and it is scented in lavender to help keep the bugs away.
