Everything was done in quarters or eighths of a yard, and a nail is half of an eighth, or 2 and a quarter inches. In this case, I think those 3/4 mean 3/4" for the width of each casing, as the measurements on the accompanying table do not translate to 3/4 yd. (BTW--the suggested width of the fabric is 1 yd and 1 nail, or 38-1/2"--very close to a meter!)
