When my husband was deployed on a ship back in the early 1980s, the wives collected underwear for the ship's homecoming and spelled out "Welcome Home" on a huge banner. (Because I provided the sheet for the backdrop, I got the privilege of doing the actual sewing.) One of the most prominent pieces was a never-worn pink padded bra that one of the wives got as a gift from her mother-in-law.
