Not completely on-topic but an interesting week of Victorian era studies: There is a yearly program at UC Santa Cruz that looks at Charles Dickens' works. This year the offering is Oliver Twist and Sketches of Boz. Included in the studies are meals, workshops, teas, films among other offerings. It is held on the beautiful campus of UCSC Saturday, August 1, through Sunday August 7, registration (now open) is $400 of you plan to live off campus plus $55 for lunches; dinners are extra. I found out about it from my daughter who lives in Santa Cruz.
More information is available at The Dickens Project website, * http://dickens.ucsc.edu/universe/universe2010.html*<http://dickens.ucsc.edu/universe/universe2010.html> The list of workshops is huge and quite interesting. It sounds like a lot of fun if DIckens is your "thing". If this notice is too off-topic I truly apologize. I have no connection to The Dickens Project, nor does my daughter.
