Martin and Katharina, that is :)
Since Halloween is also Reformation Day (the day Martin nailed the theses to
the Wittenburg church door), I would like to make outfits for my husband and
I. Here's a link to a diptych of the the couple.

And another of Katharina by herself:

I have the Tudor Tailor, and am hoping I can use/modify patterns in there to
create these outfits. I would love ideas or suggestions on how to do so.
Here's what I am thinking so far...
Martin Luther: is always shown in a gown. I am thinking of making the jerkin
with a high front and sleeves. Question: is the length correct (approx knee
length), or should I make it longer (mid-calf to ankle)? And where can I
find a pattern for the hat he is wearing?
Katherina Von Bora: Especially in the second link above, there seems to be a
lot going on. Can anyone tell me just what all the layers are? To start, is
the white underlayer her smock, or a partlet? The dark grey seems to be the
color of the gown, but to what is the skirt pleated in the front? Does the
dark grey gown actually meet in the front, and then the other layers go over
it? It would seem that the yellow brocade is an undergown, but what about
the white placket in front of it? What is that? Is the dark black along the
front sides a wool over-partlet, or the sides/revers of the gown itself? The
cuffs on the sleeves - are they turn backs similar to Tudor gowns? They are
much narrower. Do you have any suggestions on which patterns in Tudor Tailor
that could be modified, or will it just be easier to find a pattern closer
to this to start with?
Thanks for all your help!
