I hadn't logged in to my mail account for a few days and guess what--in the meantime it has apparently been hacked by a spammer through a server in Japan. And, judging by the messages in some other lists I'm subscribed to, I'm not the only one affected by this most recent problem. Sorry for the inconvenience.
