Hi, This is a bug in the Shell tool, it will be fixed in the next release. A workaround is to use block comments (/* */) instead of line comments.

Now has IBM reduced their commitment to Derby significantly (they don't provide professional support any longer). According to Ohloh, the activity within Derby is decreasing. Also, it seems the main developer quit. Sun made a big investment in Derby, but I think it will not pay off: in the long run, the complicated source code of Derby will be hard to maintain and extend.
