Good question. Maybe that is an option. This is an insurance application. Determining when coverage ends, say on midnight the day the policy expires. Did the accident occur before midnight in the time zone where the accident occurred? We're going to have to store the time zone of various locations (policy, loss, user) to support operations across multiple time zones. Right now we're storing timestamps in the database server's time zone.
