I suppose you are right Thomas. SQLite has a huge user base in the
Embedded space. Even Firefox and Adobe use it as a "filesystem". This
talk by the author Richard Hipp is worth watching -

Apart from the JVM footprint, Java seems perfectly ok to store Tera-
Petabytes. Look at Cassandra and Hbase.
