I've been doing a lot of work with H2, and some of it involves debugging and crashes, so that we often end the application without doing proper cleanup. Lately, though, I've experienced severe problems where the program just hangs when trying to open a connection to the DB. I've tried deleting the lock file and that doesn't work. Is there any other temp file, process, etc, that can be terminated to "reset" the DB? This is pretty important.
