Depending on what you do, it could be strange errors, incorrect data,
incorrect indexes, out of memory, and so on.

By the way, with the new storage engine (MVStore), what you do should work
reliably. With the MVStore, currently there is no plan to allow disabling
the transaction log, but the transaction log is usually not persisted (with
the exception of very large transactions).
