I wrote a simple Groovy script (attached: LoadLobs.groovy) to demonstrate
on a new database, this time with mvcc=false. I inserted and deleted a
100KB LOB 500,000 times. The final DB size on disk is ~175MB. Stats from
the Recover tool:

--- Statistics ----
-- page count: 42829, free: 0
-- page data bytes: head 16677214, empty 30551544, rows 42956970 (67% full)
-- data leaf 51%, 22018 page(s)
-- data node 0%, 82 page(s)
-- data overflow 0%, 4 page(s)
-- btree leaf 48%, 20572 page(s)
-- btree node 0%, 148 page(s)
-- free list 0%, 2 page(s)
