I use the following JVM options:
-Xrs -Xms8G -Xmx16G -XX:PermSize=1024m -XX:ParallelGCThreads=2
-Djava.security.egd=file:/dev/./urandom

JVisualVM reports JVM heap size to be 11GB, heap usage is around 4-8GB
during the build.
CPU utilization is around 30%-60% throughout the entire process, nothing
which should seemingly disrupt H2.
PermSize max is 1GB, actual use reported by JVisualVM is ~400MB without any
noticeable peaks.

Classes count: 64,876
Total unloaded: 1,183

Thread counts:
Live - 24
Live peak - 155
Daemon - 14
Total started - 16,823
