Hi again

You'r rigth, i was assuming you have the OS with SVM, not encapsulated with
VxVM, in this case you have to make you'r ABE.

What's your release os Solaris 10???

# cat /etc/release

Hi Christian.
I think what LU does is not really loosing the configuration but just il will
come up without VM then you have to encapsulate the bootdg.
At least that's what the LU manual says all the time:

Note ? If VxVM volumes are configured on your current system, the lucreate
command can
create a new boot environment. When the data is copied to the new boot
environment, the
Veritas file system configuration is lost and a UFS file system is created on
the new boot
environment.

I am aware about patching so I ll sort it out.

Thanks

FRED

Hi Fred

I been working with LU long time ago, and you don't loose the Veritas
configuration, they are saved in the new boot environment (aka ABE) as well the
cluster's configuration, but you need to check the special instructions to
apply any cluster patch usgin LU, or maybe you wat to divide the solution in 2,
first using LU add the recommended patches boot with the ABE, then apply the
cluster patch.

Subject: [sysadmin-discuss] Liveupgrade with SunCluster and Veritas VM

Hi All.

In order to install patches but at same time minimize the downtime of a Sun
Cluster in production, we would like to propose LiveUpgrade.

We have SUN Cluster 3.2 on 2 sparc servers with Solaris 10 and Veritas VM 5..0.
What I want to do is add another disk create a new boot environment with LU but
my doubts comes when, as you know, in the new boot environment the Veritas
configuration will be lost.
Do I have to just reconfigure the Veritas after the new BE?

What about the Sun cluster and its configurations? Any clue?

TIA

Fred
