I've been thinking about a couple of different ways we could do
something like this.

Number one, I think it is important that this be implemented as a
plugin rather than core. The vast majority of bloggers don't need this
kind of functionality, so it should stay as a plugin.

My first idea is to actually implement this as a Firefox plugin. That
gives us a lot more power which will help to make it an awesome user
interface.

Secondly, I think a couple of formats need to be supported: quotes,
links, images, and videos. It should be set up to work seamlessly with
common services (Flickr, YouTube, etc.).

Third, I think two workflows should be allowed: media collection and
microblogging.

Media collection would be when you ware working on a longer post which
references a lot of different media (quotes, links, images, videos,
etc.). You should be able to collect that media as your surf and
research. When you go back to publish, it should all show up in a silo
to be integrated into the site.

Microblogging would be very similar to that screencast: find the
media, fill in a couple of fields, click post.

If anyone has experience with this sort of thing, I'd love to get some
help with it. Otherwise, it'll be a while before I find the time to
build it.
