I think there are two points here. One: what should the default behaviour be Two: what should be optional
I think, but I have no figures to back this up, that the the expected behaviour would be for the published posts to be displayed by default with un-published posts visible only as a result of a particular action; i.e. if I choose to preview a post. Basically that what you see is what anyone would see unless you explicitly say different for the page you are viewing. I know it isn't necessarily a good thing to make comparisons with other systems but that is certainly how WordPress works and as the most popular alternative to Habari that would suggest that people will expect this behaviour. Assuming that there is agreement that that is the case then I would suggest the default is to present the published site exactly as any other visitor would see it. (explicit themeing choices aside). The second question is whether there is sufficient interest in doing things differently to include it as an option in the core, as a core plugin, or exclude it entirely. I know that some people have said that they like seeing unpublished posts on the front-end multiple posts pages, but is that likely to be something that a majority, or sizeable minority want? I personally don't understand what benefits it actually brings, so perhaps one of the people who like it could explain what it brings that viewing them in the admin area doesn't. What problem is it the solution to and does that warrant something more than a standard plugin?
