As much as it would be nice to count on people just "getting" this, without the need for it to formally be written somewhere, I think it's safe to say on the internet specifically, especially when someone can _hide_ behind the obscurity of a nick, that isn't always the case. Being able to point to the statement if need be helps keep a consistent message from everyone.
