Until there is a better way for plugins to check their requirements and a better way for us to list that only the Habari Media Silo uses it, I would suggest we keep it in the main requirements list somehow, even if we just denote that it's not required for everything. If it's not on the list, I would expect everything that ships with the download to work properly without GD, and that's not the case.

Where are the requirements to developing the Habari homepage/site in the wiki? Sorry if wrong section but have been out of Habari for awhile. Thanks in advance.

The wiki lists the GD library as a requirement, but we don't check it
in the code (any more?) and a quick search of the code suggests that
only the Habari Media Silo plugin uses the GD functions.

Given that, I'm taking GD off the requirements list. Respond if I've
missed something.

More generally, we should provide a uniform way for plugins to check
their requirements on activation.
