Hey again,

while blogging about the "cracked screen" Twitter meme, I noticed
another UTF-8 issue with MySQL and I'm not sure how to fix it (if it
can be fixed):

The original tweet was "what's that on your screen?
.̸̸̸̸̸̸̸̸̸̸̸̸̸̸̸̸̸̸̸̸̸̸̸̸̨̨̨̨̨̨̨̨̨̨̨̨.̸̸̨̨"

The last two characters are a combination of Period, Combining Solidus
and Combining Ogonek characters. You can see how it should be rendered
in the screenshot on my blog post at
http://moeffju.net/blog/theres-a-crack-in-your-twitter and compare
with the rendering that comes out when I actually put these characters
into the blog post.

Should be: .̸̸̸̸̸̸̸̸̸̸̸̸̸̸̸̸̸̸̸̸̸̸̸̸̨̨̨̨̨̨̨̨̨̨̨̨.̸̸̨̨ but is:
.̸̸̸̸̸̸̸̸̸̸̸̸̸̸̸̸̸̸̸̸̸̸̸̸̨̨̨̨̨̨̨̨̨̨̨̨.̸̸̨̨

It doesn't seem like Habari is to blame here, because I tried putting
the characters into the database table via phpMyAdmin, but got the
same result.

Can someone who is more knowledgeable about PHP & MySQL's UTF-8
handling tell me whether this is a PHP or MySQL issue and whether we
can fix it?

Regards,
Matt
