The habari/habari-extras repo was left over from when the original github mirrors were set up (there was one for core habari and one for extras). I've always been reluctant to go ahead and delete it simply because there could be something somewhere that was still using it… But now's as good a time as any to break things.
The habari-extras repositories are all mirrors that you can use as submodules if you're maintaining your Habari site in git. There are plans in the works to move -extras to github as well, it just hasn't happened quite yet so all their activity is still on subversion.
