I'll try to explain what Mint is trying to do, but again let me throw
out the "I'm not a programmer" disclaimer.

What I'm installing is called the Bird Feeder Pepper, what it does is
puts an extra pane in my stats package that counts how many people
subscribe to my feed. In order to do that it needs to have some sort
of notification that someone has accessed my feed (or, you know,
something like that).

So to do that the instructions include calling an external file which
then runs some PHP that looks to be basically making a count and
recording some stuff in my Mint database.

There's also another step that includes adding some stuff to the
<link> element that will let you track clicks within individual
article feeds. But I'll cross that bridge when I get there. That's not
as important to me as just knowing the overall subscription count.

Thanks again for all your help!
