Alexander, thanks for responding so quickly ! I just downloaded the Markdown Extra files linked to in your post above. I deactivated the Habari markdown plugin and replaced the file *habarimarkdown.plugin.php* of the latter with an identically named file from the former (the file in the Markdown Extra download is just called *markdown.php*, but I figured I needed to change the name first). On reactivating the updated Habari Markdown plugin I now only see a blank page ;-(
