took some time, as I had to clean up the wiki after a serious
spambot attack. But the maui makers entry is done now. And
the wiki is clean again.

I locked down the machine. Only registered users are able to
change and create pages now. If anyone wants to do so, please
write to me at
off...@hackbus.info
to get an account, if you did not create one so far. Just
send me the e-mail address (and optional a name) that you
intend to use, I send the password back.

Aloha Jerry and Servus from Vienna!

Great work you are doing in the middle of the Pacific!
I'll create a hackbus entry for your bus, just in case.

Aloha HackBus

Just wanted to take a moment and introduce myself. I'm the founder of Maui
Makers out in middle of the Pacific. Our island has a small and fairly
dispersed population (~150,000 full time, lots more 'visitors', 48miles long).
Our space is a 40' container semi-permenently located in an equally
inconvenient location (near the Sugar Mill in central Maui). I've been
following various mobile maker spaces for a while and would really love to
build one. Then we can take our making activities to Hana (secluded east side
paradise), Ka'anapali/Lahaina/Napili on west end, etc. It takes several hours
to drive to Hana, and an hour or so to Kaanapli from central valley.

One project I've seen semi-locally is the Robotics Alliance van used for FIRST
Robotics Competitions in Jan-March. Alas it reportedly is unused the rest of
the year. My pics of it from last year are at
http://www.flickr.com/photos/mauimakers/sets/72157627648217174/
Its mostly a metal shop on wheels, intended to setup with local power supply
and spread outside for some setup (welding, chop saw, etc).
I'm hoping to do something similar with more of an electronics focus, but maybe
with some desktop cnc/laser capabilities.
