If you have the .grc run gnuradio-companion and open the grc.  You can then add 
blocks to the grc flowgraph.

If you can include a screen shot of your grc flowgraph with the missing blocks 
and Alex's example programs, maybe we can help you find your missing blocks and 
help you with the install.
