If there is a gain control you should try it. The GNU tutorial requires amplification to hear the signals via the sound system. 73, Alan - W6ARH

These can be heard by even an earpiercing so to speak.I tried also now a simple paperclip, also no go. I just also made sure if the ANT500 is working. I took the rtl usb dongle, plugged it in, helt the ANT500 manually in the rtl usb dongle until i felt the SMA pin was making contact while tuning to a local FM frequency ... guess what ? Music in my ears ! So ANT500 can be excluded, the problem is inside the HackRF One unit itself. I thought i was lucky that from all suppliers i checked it was in 1 place in stock but now i think this was some returned unit or so. I guess if no one else has suggestions i'll have it shipped back to the U.S and get #%$^$$@ by the shipping charges again :( Thanks, Micky On Thu, 30 Oct 2014 19:05:14 +0100 "Simon Brown" <simon@sdr- radio.com> wrote: >Micky, > >You must use a better antenna unless you live right in the middle of >the Big City, and even then your antenna may be defective. > >Simon Brown G4ELI >http://v2.sdr-radio.com > > >-----Original Message----- >From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] > >Hi Simon, > >Thank you for your help.
