Which page of the wikia re you looking at? Is it the getting started page? What about it do you think is out of date? I'd be happy to update it. > anyone can confirm a known working tutorial? Using the gnuradio pybombs script is fairly reliable for most people. Is it the radio rx part that was burned perhaps? It sounds like the RX amplifier may have been damaged by that signal. Could you try running your hackrf_transfer -r command again with the RX amp explicitly disabled? Then with it explicitly enabled? Do you see any difference in the output? As previously mentioned, pybombs would be my preferred method for installing all of the hackrf and gnuradio tools that you will likely want to use. If for any reason you aren't able to use pybombs, then I you can follow that guide but download the release instead of cloning the git repository. The Wiki warning reads "Receive Power The maximum RX power of HackRF One is -5 dBm. Exceeding -5 dBm can result in permanent damage! In theory, HackRF One can safely accept up to 10 dBm with the front-end RX amplifier disabled. However, a simple software or user error could enable the amplifier, resulting in permanent damage. It is better to use an external attenuator than to risk damage." Assuming you had an antenna connected when the 0.5 watt transmission was made, the power was probably just too much for the first stage. I would troubleshoot that portion of the radio." The possible good news is that this probably happened to a lot of people so you should be able to get advice which components likely need replacing.
