Arun C Murthy commented on HADOOP-538:
--------------------------------------
Addendum: I've had issues getting this whole native framework to work on cygwin
i.e. the autotool chain, shell scripts etc. - appreciate anyone helping out on
that one...
Meanwhile can we get this out to people on *nix platform, since everything is
optional stuff anyway, and if there is sufficient interest we can track this as
a separate issue if anyone is really interested on deploying a largish hadoop
on cygwin-based cluster?

> There has been more than one instance where java.util.zip's {De|In}flater
> classes perform unreliably, a simple wrapper over zlib-1.2.3 (latest stable)
> using java.nio.ByteBuffer (i.e. direct buffers) should go a long way in
> alleviating these woes.
