Sure, we could re-indent all of the code. We'd need to use the -l option to 'patch' for all outstanding patches. And we'd have to be careful, as there are probably a few places where automatic indenters do the wrong thing. So the output should be read carefully.
In the meantime, I think it's worthwhile to make sure that new code is well formatted and indented.
