I'd recommend changing the grammar of above to UDC(user-defined casts), Paul.
ex. select MyCast(col1:) from table ...
"select col1: format(SomeFormatClass), col2: format(AnotherFormatClass) from
table ...."
is too heterogeneous from select statement.
