Hello Chad, I uploaded an updated version of the design document. This version has sections on how Appends interact with some newer HDFS features like Rebalancing and Datanode Periodic Verification.
Would it be possible for somebody from your side to review this design? If this design (or some modified version of it) is approved, we can split the entire Append feature into about 5 JIRA issues. Then it will be possible for multiple people to implement this simultaneously. Please let me know any other suggestions you might have.
