Hi all,
This is not a spam, so keep reading ;)

Those who attended the lecture on Linux High performance computing might
remeber that I mentioned there the name Condor, cycle stealing batch
manager for small and large-scale clusters. Condor was one of the first
projects which had adressed the problem of resource management in large
scale distributed environments. Later it became very sexy to refer to such
environments as computational grids, and many pseudo-scientific researches
are now trying to show "innovations" in this field. In fact there are
quite a few real serious projects with real results, and IMHO Condor is
one of the best.
And now to the point:
Condor inventor and project leader, prof. Miron Livni from University of
Wisconsin is coming to the Technion to give an overview lecture on Condor
and his vision of Grid computing. It will take place on the 1st of June,
at 14.30 in the room 337, Taub building. No knowledge on grid is required.

Thanks
Mark
