Hello Eli, Since you run Linux/ACPI on a Compaq Laptop, I'd like to know if you can actually get a battery readout (/proc/acpi/battery not empty). I can't get this to work on my laptop - Evo 1000v with RH9.0 with modified ACPI revision 20021212. If so, what version of kernel and ACPI are you using?
