I announced a utility named cdepend (http://www.mail-archive.com/[EMAIL PROTECTED]/msg00565.html) on this list a couple of months ago. I got several pointers to other free tools from the members of this list, as the archive shows. My announcement at comp.lang.c (http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&threadm=6bff2723.0310301541.15cbf083%40posting.google.com&rnum=1&prev=/groups%3Fhl%3Den%26lr%3D%26ie%3DUTF-8%26oe%3DUTF-8%26selm%3D6bff2723.0310301541.15cbf083%2540posting.google.com)
arose a similar discussion, with tools mentioned there.

So yes, you can get several tools for free. Just pick one.

Hi all,
It's not an advertisement, just FYI:
I recently was required to understand a program of 10000 lines of code
in computational biology, in which I, by the way, have no clue. Not
really pleasant thing to do. But what helped me was a tool called 'STI
Understanding C++' - tool for static analysis of C/C++ code.
Unfortunately it is not free - two weeks trial, but it does what it is
supposed to do - build call graphs, traces variables and many other
useful things. All that without compiling or running the code.
If someone knows any open-source tool which does the same, drop me a
line. If no, it might be nice thing to develop ;)
