Hello all,Anyone interested in "SMTP and qmail" lecture? I'm not sure (couldn't attend) what Orr covered already.
We have an open slot on February 23rd. This slot is intended for a regular Haifux lecture, i.e. not a "Staying in Linux" lecture.
We would like to encourage new lecturers to give a lecture on this day. The lecture topics may vary, and do not have to be purely Linux. As past lectures may show (http://www.haifux.org/lectures.html), other free software, (good) programming, and even computer science subjects that are more loosely connected with Linux are good topics. The guideline is: what interests Haifux people to hear about. And of course what interests Orr :)
So, Haifux people,_old_and_new_as_one_, you are invited to fill the slot. It is a month from now, and the next open slot is somewhen around the longest day of the year.
Orna.
I'll throw some things to cover around, and you say what you find interesting:
- SMTP's relation to DNS
- Mail loops, secondary MX, relaying and friends, how to avoid some and get the rest
qmail specific
- The .qmail file
- qmail control settings
- Virtual domains - user controlled, system controlled, compiled
- POP and IMAP to virtual users with vpopmail
- mailing lists with ezmlm
Also, if you like, I can talk about DNS. There isn't all that much to say specifically about bind, in that respect. I can talk about security issues and such. I don't think DNS requires a whole 2 hours, however.
