Hi everybody, I'm not aware of all past the lectures at Haifux meetings, so if this topic have already been treated, please accept my apologies and dimiss this message.
I would like to suggests as theme for a lecture the new udev (dynamic /dev) subsystem. Since, it looks like we can reasonably assume that udev will be the only way to run a linux system very shortly (static /dev is already on its last legs), and some distributions already enable udev by default. Topics like: - the new way of naming devices. - comparison with the old and good devfs - udev-devfs naming comparison for newbies. - following recepies that only mention devfs, but are also suitable for udev. For any body interested, here are couple of pointers: For a description of udev, and what its original design goals were http://www.kroah.com/linux/talks/ols_2003_udev_paper/Reprint-Kroah-Hartman-OLS2003.pdf Some slides material for a talk http://www.kroah.com/linux/talks/ols_2003_udev_talk/ Cheers, Paramahansa -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Haifa Linux Club Mailing List (http://www.haifux.org) To unsub send an empty message to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
