Office XP works fairly well under CrossOver Office for Linux [1], including Hebrew support when executed with LANG=he_IL. Layout and rendering are occasionally imperfect (but then, layout is inconsistent across version of Word anyway). Word XP is claimed [2] to also work well under WINE (the open-source basis of CrossOver Office), which is included in Ubuntu. No idea about Hebrew support. The overall experience isn't a great joy, due the the rendering issues and some other minor bugs, as well as a platform impedance mismatch (e.g., the Linux filesystem is eerily mapped to Windows drives). But in a pinch, it does the job. Between this and OpenOffice, it's been years since I needed to run Windows (in a VM) to open a Word attachment.
