I have an exam tomorrow, I'll try to look at it afterwards.
Did you looked into the logs? I've added some status outputs, it is possible
that the hosts were just writing the results to disk, this takes a while. From
the main method it looks like the whole job is frozen.
After you've killed it, you have seen that the code was just syncing.
How much memory did you used per task? I have to allocate about 10gb. Java
HashMap's have a lot of overhead.
Maybe it hang in GC too much, that's what I've seen during profiling too.
