So the whole process has looked something like this:

* Install Haml
* Haml templates are working
* Install other plugins
* Haml templates still working
* Haml templates mysteriously stop working

?

If so, that's really bizarre. I can't think what could have caused it... 
have you tried restarting the server? What happens if you upgrade Haml 
to the latest from the master branch?
