Making it easy to override the blueprint defaults is one of the things left to do before compass gets an official release. It's actually a pretty simple change... I'm curious what kinds of changes you've had to make to blueprint. If you want to share some of your code I'd like to know how the mix-ins provided could have been more flexible and whether it makes sense for others. But let's move this conversation to the compass mailing list, for your reply please.
