hey out there!

i am trying to figure out how to customize a javascript call inside my
haml template.
the problem with ruby interpolation within a javascript filter is that
the interpolated ruby is allways surrounded by quotes.
how can i get a value written inside a javascript filter without it
being wrapped with quotes?

eg.:

- string = " ' test ' "
:javascript
   #{string}

renders
<script ....>
  " ' test ' "                      // and not just ' test '
</script>

is there a way to get rid of the outer quotes?

thanks for help!

martin
