Because
a) Ruby is better anyway
(See link on related work. I tell everybody about it)
  It has
  - more libraries
  - better libraries (see related work sections: Many haml
implementations can be found - but no one is usable.
PHP devs don't seem to know about test cases !?
    )
  - blocks yielding less code
  - try finally like
  - ...

b) I have to feed myself

I'm sorry - I don't think that donations work pretty well.
If they did gimp would be more advanced and more photoshop like
  (talking about its features)

I'm a friend of open source and I'll always be one. See my github page
github.com/MarcWeber

I only wrote this library for brave soles who can't switch language for
whatever reason.

If other projects I want to start take off I may change license to open
source later.
