Hi,

Question for those people with I guess farily deep knowledge of Unix
internals.

Do the execute bits on a named socket serve any purpose ? ie are the
following equivalent or does the x impart extra functionality.

srwxrwxrwx 1 root root 0 Apr 9 12:53 /var/run/sock1
srw-rw-rw- 1 root root 0 Apr 9 12:53 /var/run/sock2

I'd especially like to hear if they do something special on non-
linux Unix varients.
