Hi,

I made (yesterday and today) two installation tests of Ubuntu 7.04
customized version by JC Andr?, Rev2 (the one distributed at the SFD
2007 in Hanoi) on a laptop without internet connection. Here is the report :

At start : only two language choices : English or Vietnamese

1) After installation (Vietnamese selected, no more update-grub bug as
it is solved) completed and reboot OK. Although no choice made of
language but GNOME got automatically into English environment (instead
of Vietnamese). Disconnecting and choosing languages : only two options
"Vietnamese" and "English POSIX/C". Selecting Vietnamese = GNOME
Vietnamese environment OK.

2) Adding language support not possible : to made it possible, I had to
change the software sources, select an appropriate (fast) internet
server and reload the list of packages (problems with downloading the
list of packages from http://apt.hanoilug.org/).

3) Then adding language support for English was possible and resulted in
the downloading of 15 files (about 21 MB), for GNOME, Mozilla,
Thunderbird, etc. After that Language support seems complete :
possibility to add other languages like French, etc. Disconnecting and
choosing languages provided a variety of English choices.

4) An automatic update alarm indicated the need to download
"hanoilug-vietnamese" from version 1.6 to 1.7 (11 files, 21.4 MB)

I made an AptonCD of all the downloads (> 40 MB).

Conclusion : if you install from the live CD with an internet connection
set, it will download at least the extra English package files. If you
do not have internet connection when installing, language support is not
complete (I didn't try if I could still work, probably yes, but soon or
late... full language support will be needed).

EXTRA : Testing multimedia abilities
(http://www.hanoilug.org/dokuwiki/ubuntu:vi:testing): Canal G?o failed
with Mplayer plugin (needs Realmedia ? although it seems installed) ;
radio-canada works partially.
