One important point here is that TeX (and derivatives like LaTeX) use its own font system which means you could be able to display Vietnamese in Xorg but still not able to compile a TeX document correctly. With Debian/Ubuntu, to get a complete TeX development environment just install the "texlive" package. This is a meta package depending on everything required to work with TeX. Note that there is a "texlive-lang-vietnamese" package too that may be what you lack at this time. I didn't tried it though... -- Jean Christophe "????" ANDR? ?
