Hello everyone. After several claims that Linux infringes its patent for the past few year but not saying which patents. MS has just brought out the first attack on Linux by sueing TomTom, a GPS navigation company, and TomTom use Linux kernel for its device.
I haven't read all the detail yet, but someone pointed out that one of the patent that MS said is being infringed is the one that Windows 95 used to display long file name in FAT (detail can be found here http://www.google.com/patents?vid=USPAT5579517), and TomTom use FAT as its FS on memory card. The problem is, this mean a lot of features that allow Linux to compatible with Windows (like NTFS, Samba ?) can also be used by MS to sue Linux. Or is it not? Can someone explain to me about this?
