Finally I understand why anyone would put a quad-core processor into a
phone.
Like the slogan "In every dual-core phone, there’s a PC trying to get out".
What I haven't figured out yet if Ubuntu would be installed as an app
under Android or how it works.

on many smartphones/tablets with Android !!!
It's time for me to look for a smartphone : however still waiting for
them to drop under 2 MVND (in the coming months of this year!) ;-)
