Hi every one, I have a problem with installations of Ubuntu 14.04 LTS: I perform an installation using English as default language and location as Ho chi minh city. because I have declared my location as in Vietnam, then the locale Vietnamese language will be installed along English (US).
When I go to the Language Support Settings, I can verify that Tieng Viet is installed, Ibus is selected as default and I just have to install Gnome-vi and LibreOffice.vi help files to finalize the language support for the system. The problem that sometimes arise is that the Unikey indicator is greyed (not functioning) and I cannot type in Vietnamese. If I want to install an extra input, then only the Vietnamese entry is available which then swicth the US keyboard to a Vietnamese keyboard where you cannot type in telex method but have to put accents by using the 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 keys above the QWERTY row. I checked with Synaptic that ibus-unikey has been installed. marking for re-instllation did not improved the situation (i.e. impossible to use Unikey, only possible to switch to a Vietnamese keyboard for typing in Vietnamese !). I say that this problems sometimes arise because I have an 14.04 installation where Unikey works but the installation was made with default language as Vietnamese. Has anyone encountered the problems with the Unikey indicator not active and if yes was there any solution to activate it (else than installing with Vietnamese as default language)? Thanks for any hint. -- Vu Do Quynh (M.) Hanoi, Vietnam Blog personnel: Choses vues et vécues... <http://vdquynh.blogspot.com/>
