Sadly this change was made as part of this patch :

  abbf607 ("MEDIUM: cli: Add payload support")

and it touches multiple areas at once, so it will be more complicated
than I tought to unroll it because this requires extra care to be sure
we don't break the payload support.

Thus I'd rather not keep 2.0.6 on hold for this fix, and would rather
fix it independently.

If you have time to create an entry in the github issue tracker for
this so that we don't forget it, that would be great (feel free to
send a link to this thread). Otherwise I'll do it later, but I'm sure
you're less likely to forget it than I am :-)
